Look for a BEACON to lead!

CBHT_Banner_V3.jpgAs a grandparent or other kinship caregiver, you may be seeking help and support to lead your “littles” in a journey of health and safety until they can return to their parents. This goal may be confusing. BEACON, (Behavioral Health Care and Ongoing Navigation), is a centralized resource for Illinois youth and families seeking services for behavioral health needs. IFRC encourages you to visit the BEACON resource site for help. We know it is common for young people to struggle with behavioral and/or mental health challenges. Knowing you are not alone, and neither are your children is an important step for you as a caregiver. The BEACON is here to help. BEACON gives you information about behavioral health services focused on your child's needs. Learn which community-based resources are available near you and the state-funded programs your child may be eligible for. Create a healthy child and peace as a caregiver.

Their latest State of Grandfamilies and Kinship Care report, "Pathways to Success: K-12 Education Supports for Kinship and Grandfamiles," focuses on the educational challenges that grandparents and other family members face when caring for children whose parents are not in the home.
